Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing finance team. This role supports the Controller and Senior Accountant with daily accounting operations, month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and audit preparation.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Key Responsibilities
• Complete daily banking activities and related account reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation and completion of monthly financial statements.
• Prepare and post monthly general ledger journal entries, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and financial reporting processes.
• Process and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Prepare schedules, supporting documentation, and explanations for the annual audit.
• Support accounts payable activities, including processing invoices and other A/P transactions.
• Support accounts receivable functions, including cash application and customer account maintenance.
• Respond to financial information requests from leadership and provide timely, accurate reporting support.
• Assist with account analysis, reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies.
• Perform additional accounting, financial, and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Up to 2 years of accounting experience required; internships or relevant entry-level accounting experience may be considered.
• Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and general ledger processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions, PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively under deadlines, and maintain organized records.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative, dependable team player with a willingness to assist wherever needed.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience processing or reconciling intercompany transactions.
• Experience with QuickBooks, AS400, or similar accounting/ERP systems.
• Prior exposure to the transportation, logistics, trucking, or related industries.
• Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, or month-end close processes.
